Minigore 2: Zombies. The Review.

What is up people ?

From today I will be starting my new weekly app review. I will be talking about some of the best apps out there on the market and those that will surely have you coming back each day. Whether its to see what's the weather going to be like on  a particular day or a game that will keep you entertained for hours on those boring train rides.

The app which will be kicking this weekly segment off will be Minigore 2: Zombies.
As you people may recall Minigore was a huge hit. I think that nearly everyone I know has heard, played or even owns Minigore. Well if you haven't I'm going to bring you people up to date. Minigore is basically a game which requires you to shoot a s**t load of zombies. As you progress through the game you gain experience and you are very kindly rewarded by getting a lot of coins which are currently the games currency. From this you can buy brand new characters which all have their own individual skills. Whether its for their appearance or their skills its fun playing as a completely new character it keeps the game fresh and interesting. While you are playing you will find crates that conceal various awesome weapons that will just add to your enjoyment like machine guns, shotguns, sledgehammers and machetes. Trust me you're going to need them. Minigore 2 offers a great control system. On the screen two buttons will appear in the lower corners. The button in the lower left hand corner controls your character and with it you can move him left or right and forwards or backwards. The button in the right hand corner is the one where the fun begins. That's the attack button which enables you to do a lot of crazy stuff like for example cut a zombie's head off.

Die you zombies !!!!

This game is definitely no joke. It runs beautifully and smoothly on the IPad, Iphone and Ipod touch. Considering the games price I think that the guys at Mountain Sheep definitely out did themselves and they deserve a massive amount of credit for an outstanding game that they have produced.

With this game you can't go wrong people. The game offers over 300 challenges, 20 playable characters and some which you may be already familiar with and over 60 different enemies which will surely give you a tough time on the battlefield. This game is exactly everything you want it to be.  So for my score system out of 10 I give these guys 9.5 out of 10 its an awesome game which should not be missed out.

Are video games too expensive ?

What is up people ?

In the upcoming months we have been promised some top of the line games, and I'm sure all of you are super excited. It all sounds good but I'm going to ask you people one question. Have video games become too expensive ?

I'm sure that most of you people already know the amount of work that goes into one single game. First of all, a top of the line game could take four to five years to complete. Everybody involved in the process of design, coding and marketing has to get paid. So much hours have to be put in to make your experience the best it could possibly be and from the first minute that you turn on the game, you hope that it will be an unforgettable experience to the last. Let me show you people just how much work went into one of the best games that I have played "Bioshock Infinite".

Pretty impressive huh ? But then again you hear of the best games in the world making millions of dollars and only about 10-15% of those earnings go into making the next game in the franchise. It's a rough estimate but it seems to look that way folks. What would happen if a game that originally costs 54.99 cost 40.00 ? I'm thinking that it wouldn't really hurt the company's budget that badly. I mean come on people, if you think about it $15 in our pockets is a huge difference and I'm guessing that more people would be inclined to buy the game for $40.00 then for $54.99. If this would be the case well then I don't think that the gaming industry would even see a decrease in profits but  possibly a slight increase in profits.

Ok sometimes I give in :-) (Max Payne 3 and Bioshock Infinite)

So let me know people what are your opinions on the topic and do you think that a small decrease in the cost of a game would benefit us all ? Even when I think back now there were a couple of times that I had moths fly out of my wallet due to buying one or two brand new PS3 or 360 exclusives.(Damn, those marketing guys are good.)

What do I think of Apple's "Siri" ?

What is up people ?

So for the past month I have been using Apple's virtual assistant Siri. Now I will discuss many different features that I have embarked on with using Siri, and some places where Apple could have improved on.

Siri in general:

Siri is a virtual assistant that's supposed to make our lives easier. It creates reminders for us, tells us the weather, solves difficult mathematical equations, has the ability to open up apps, and send messages and tweets to our family and friends. As you all may think this all sounds like one cool feature. It is at first, but after a while, its not what you think. So if any of you are wondering if its worth updating your Iphone 4's and 3g's just for Siri you may want to listen.

My experience:

From the second that I booted up my Ipad I was prompted to use Siri straight away. I asked Siri a typical question "What am I called ?" So Siri answered back with I don't know you but can tell me by going into settings, blah blah blah.
The second question that I asked Siri was "what's the weather like ?" Siri responded with a very accurate forecast and she was also able to give me a very nice week view display table. As I got comfortable with using Siri I started asking her more personal questions "Where were you made ?" and "What are you ?" From these questions I was able to get a laugh or two but not for long. Siri soon began her usual routine by asking me if I would like to search for(whatever I said) on the web. I just simply answered with "NO" and believe me people it does get frustrating.

If you ask Siri "tell me a joke". She has a couple in store for you but that's just it and at times they do get quite repetitive and just simply boring. I know that Siri is a pretty cool feature that will be used and "is" being used by many different people around the world and probably for the right reasons. But if you're like me and like a laugh or two or want an answer to everything you ask well than Siri isn't for you.

Well don't you worry folks because I'm thinking that Apple is planning a big change for Siri with IOS 7. Apple claim that Siri will now be able to pronounce your name correctly if you have a real European name like me (HA) and I'm guessing that they have many more surprises in store for us.

My Evaluation:

Overall I like Siri. Its a pretty cool feature that will no doubt benefit people with certain disabilities and also those who have a very busy lifestyle and lot on their mind. As I have said if you're the one that wants to hear Siri sing you a little song over and over again, well than maybe its not worth upgrading guys. But stick around for IOS 7 coming this fall and no doubt Apple will shock us once again. With a fresh new look and impressive new features.

My first experience with "Vine".

What is up people ?

There has been huge news going around about "Instagram's" new video capture feature. I am very familiar with Instagram, and I think its new video capture option is pretty neat. In the period of twenty four hours since launch, "Facebook" has reported that over 5 million videos have been uploaded. If that's not big then I don't know what is. With the ability to shoot fifteen second videos, its definitely a cool and new way for you and your friends to share videos with each other and the world. I'm guessing that this most definitely lived up to the expectations of many sport fans around the world.

Today I have embarked on a pretty cool app called "Vine" which most of you probably already heard of and are using at the moment. I've been using it all day and I think it's one of the best I have used so far. Up till now I have never come across an easy to use app for video capture. Sometimes I want to show the whole world a funny trick that I do in GTA 4 or I want to simply show my friends and family something that I cannot put into words (Like that's even possible). From the second that I opened up the app I was introduced to a step by step tutorial, and it will be a great benefit to those who enjoy step by step instructions to familiarise themselves with the app that they have just recently downloaded. Vine is integrated with "Twitter" so if you are already a twitter user, well then you have the option to immediately  post your latest videos and they will be seen by your twitter followers in its well known tweet form.

If I compare both of these apps they definitely have their own cool and individual features and I will enjoy using both of them. They are both user friendly and very simple to use, and I most certainly recommend these to any directors and camera enthusiasts. Short video capture is where social-networking is going and its the place to be. So if you people have yet to check these apps out then please do. They are worth it.

Did Microsoft throw in the towel, with their 180 move ?

What is up people ?

Big news has hit us all this week. Microsoft has decided to suddenly change their total approach towards us gamers. They have finally come to their senses, and now realise that they weren't going to win this battle against Sony with the way they were going.

Microsoft have announced that the Xbox One will no longer require a 24 hour internet connection and now have a completely different outlook on how they should handle their used games policy. There you have it people if we speak up things can change. (Lets try that with Apple. ) From the start when the Xbox One was first announced, there had been a lot of rumours floating around in the twitter sphere. Now I think that Microsoft are looking like a bunch of pussies. Don't get me wrong I like that they reconsidered and changed their policies but to me it seems ridiculous that they caved under pressure. Whenever Don Mattrick was asked a question if they were ever considering changing their DRM  he simply answered with "We aren't changing anything" and now it seems funny to me how he simply went against everything he believed in and  went with the easy option out.

Taking a look at the pre-order chart a huge change has occurred. Over one night Microsoft has taken more pre-orders than Sony. I like Sony and I hope all goes well for them but I think Microsoft went over their strategy for the better and obviously are going to be successful.

Who won E3 ? I'm going to give you a hint it starts with a P.

What is up people ?

Over the past couple of days we have seen some amazing content revealed by some of the biggest industries in the gaming business. The main events of E3 were the Xbox One and Playstation 4 conferences.

The Xbox event started it all off and I must say they did bring some new fresh ideas to the table. But I guess people weren't ready for such dramatic changes including me. But some were just plain stupid like charging people a fee for playing used games. I mean come on we have been doing that for years and suddenly its wrong ? I know Microsoft is a well known major company but lets remember who was in the gaming industry first Sony and this year they were determined to prove it. From the very start at the Playstation reveal the company made it very clear that they were going to do a console for games. They cared about what the gamers had to say and actually listened. Sony wanted to improve the players experience and  immerse them into the gaming world. Microsoft did the complete opposite and went on and did their own thing and acted like total big shots.

From the second that Sony's CEO Jack Tretton walked onto the stage with a very laid back attitude you immediately knew who was going to be victorious at this years E3. Sony offered a very satisfying conference they gave us gamers everything that we could have ever hoped for and more. Throughout the whole conference Sony teased us with amazing exclusive content and stunningly beautiful graphics but the one that put  the last nail in Microsoft's coffin was the price. Microsoft's Xbox one will be available for 499.99 euros. Sony's Playstation 4 will be available for the amazing price of 399.99 euros. Now as you may recall when the PS3 and the 360 first launched the 360 was cheaper than the PS3 now the tables have turned and no doubt that Microsoft have lost a wide range of potential customers.

Playstation also does allow used games to be past on from you to a friend. Microsoft if you don't understand this check out this video it will make a lot more sense. How to share games :-). To me the idea of being connected to the internet all the time was complete bulls**t

So there you have it people it is a clear and obvious win for Sony's Playstation 4. Microsoft tried to do something different and original and I do respect them for that but if the whole gaming community isn't feeling it well then why go ahead with it.

Tell me what you people think and what are your thoughts on this years E3. I had a blast and I think it was a great example of where the gaming industries are heading and so far it's looking good.

Thanks for checking this out and if you want you can follow me on twitter for some regular updates and not so funny jokes (only kidding) : @Jacob0527

"State of Decay" is awesome !!!!!!!

What is up people ?

Over the week I heard some really good things about the game "State of Decay" and decided to pick this one up to quench the hunger for "The Last of Us" and I must say it filled the gap quite well.

This game is real people. Okay let me rephrase that. The game takes a dramatic turn based on the decisions you make. DUH ? I guess your saying but this one is a little bit different. You somehow gain an emotional attachment to your characters you level up and all is good. But if those flesh eating zombies get a hold of you you're a goner. And there's no going back.

The game opens up with you having to beat the crap out of some zombies that were attacking your friend. State of decay is the answer to all of our zombie game fantasies. For those of you who wanted GTA zombies and a game very similar to the walking dead series. This is the one. In the first 15 minutes of game play you might not be sure what's going on but then it's clearly evident that it's an open world RPG.

Let me explain to you how it works. You have the option to switch between various characters that you encounter along your journey and objective number one is stay alive. That means keep your head low, break into vacated shops, houses and petrol stations to keep you and your followers alive. while I was playing the game and breaking into a shop in the middle of the night I felt goosebumps, knowing that at any moment I could have been torn apart by those vicious monsters lurking in the darkness. After I broke into the shop and got everything that needed I got the hell out of there. But after seeing the faces of my fellow friends I knew it was worthwhile. It's things like these that feel rewarding when playing a game like state of decay.

I am going to be honest with you people the game is far from perfect. Zombies appear out of nowhere, they walk through closed doors, they fly  like forever when you hit them with the car and the game over all is very very jumpy and lumpy. At times its flawless but then you decide you want to speed up in your car and it seems like the game just simply cannot keep up with you. But lets not lose hope as the developers might send a patch to fix those problems. But don't let these things confuse you about buying the game. The game does everything else so right that you quickly forgive these glitches for occurring.

Its the little things that make this game so entertaining like opening your door to smash a zombies face in and driving slowly so that your big V8 engine doesn't roar out into the distance alerting zombies nearby that you are present in the area.

As I have said this game is far from prefect but if you're the type of person that truly cares for the game and not the graphics then this is the one for you. Let's not forget this is a pretty sturdy game title for $20 and it almost keeps up with the best of the best.

Based on the six hours that I have already played I'm enjoying every minute of it with the occasional glitch here and there. I highly recommend this game to any zombie lover and weapons enthusiast. I gladly give this game 9/10 for the great idea that the developers had and also it's the only zombie game that actually gets it right.

IPad mini. A brief review.

What is up people ?

If you have read my earlier post about selling your old devices (if not than check out this link Should we sell our old devices) well than you are aware of that I had my eye on the IPad mini. Now I can proudly say that I am finally the owner of one.

The overall look and feel:

The device offers a brand new sleek and new design. Only weighing in at 0.68 pounds (308 g)  a width of 134.7 mm and a height of 200 mm the IPad mini will be more then enough for the everyday reader and occasional gamer. The IPad fits nicely into the hand and is very easy to carry around. With an overall depth of 7.2 mm the IPad mini is no doubt the most stylish and attractive looking device on the market. The mini comes in two colours black on the front and slate on the back and white on the front and silver on the back. With this one you really do get the full package.

Storage:

The IPad mini comes with the following storage options 16gb, 32gb and 64gb.
Some people may think that the 16gb model may not be enough but its more then enough. This particular IPad is very efficient when it comes to storage and battery life. And I think that Apple are a bit ambitious by making a $100 gap between these storage options.

Display:

The Ipad offers a very generous 7.9 inch(diagonal)  LED-backlit Multi-Touch
with IPS technology with a 1024-by-768 resolution at 163 pixels per inch (PPI).
For people who have used a retina display Apple device, you may see little tiny pixels but honestly the IPad mini gets the job done with a nice and crisp display which is absolutely perfect for reading and it will not disappoint during those crucial moments while gaming.

 The Horsepower:

Under the hood the mini is running a pretty impressive A5 dual-core processor chip. This is clearly evident when playing well known games such as "Dead Trigger" and "Real Racing 3". The movements are fluent and run with no lag whatsoever. Web browsing is fast and there are no waiting and loading times like you would expect in a small handheld tablet.

Camera:

The Ipad features a 5 mega pixel isight  camera with 1080p HD video recording and also 720p HD video.

Apple claim that the device can get a good 10 hours of battery life out of the mini and I can say that I was able to get a good 9 hours out of my Ipad.

The evaluation:

The Ipad mini is an amazing device and will not let you down in any way. I know that the price is a big steep for a small tablet but it is apple. They are the ones that you want to be with if you want the best customer care and the best quality.
I have been an Apple customer since 2011 and I think that they are amazing. So give them a try and do take this review into consideration.

I will be making a you tube review in a couple of days and I am happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Thanks for reading and see you all soon !!!
